 Scholastic

Scholastic is a global children’s publisher and media company. They provide children’s books, magazines, toys, television, film, video, teacher materials, and technology-based products for school and home use. Scholastics products are distributed through school book fairs, television, retail stores, libraries, and the Internet. The company is also the largest operator of school-based book clubs and fairs in the US.

The mission of all of Scholastic’s divisions is “instilling the love of reading and learning for life long pleasure in all children.”

Children’s Book Publishing and Distribution

This division of Scholastic consists of Scholastic Trade Books, Scholastic Book Fairs®, Scholastic Book Clubs™, and Scholastic At Home. All together, these companies sell over 300 million hardcover and paperback books per year.

Scholastic Trade Books publishes original children’s books. This award-winning company publishes over 750 new books every year. Some of their successful published titles include Harry Potter®, The Magic School Bus®, and Clifford The Big Red Dog®.

Scholastic Book Fairs® partner with schools across the country, holding more then 110,000 book fairs each year. These fairs feature new releases, bestsellers, software, and award winning books for children in Pre-Kindergarten through ninth grade. These fairs provide entertaining and educational books and products to students, parents, and teachers while raising money for school projects and materials for the classroom.

Scholastic Book Clubs™ consist of 13, grade specific clubs for Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade students. These school-based clubs provide teachers, students, and parents with affordable books and materials while purchases earn free books, software and resources for the classroom. Every year Scholastic Book Clubs™ has a Classrooms Care initiative when for every 100 books that a participating classroom reads, Scholastic donates 100 books to children in need.

Scholastic At Home reaches families with children from newborns to twelve-year-olds through it’s direct-to-home channel. They offer entertaining and educational books as well as high quality toys.

Classroom Magazines

Scholastic’s magazines are used in schools across the nation, as educational supplements for students and teachers in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Their magazines include Scholastic News®, Junior Scholastic®, The New York Times Upfront®, and more. The magazines cover many subjects including science, math, social studies, and current events. Scholastic News Online is the magazine’s companion, providing students and teachers with current news on the Internet.
