 Core Information

Core curriculum are generally the primary source of information for your child’s class during a school year. Each month KE will feature information about at least one core curriculum program. This month’s feature is:

 

Harcourt

Harcourt is a multi-divisional, international company providing educational books, assessments, electronic learning materials, and professional development for students and teachers in Pre-K through 12th grade, as well as adult learners. They have divisions for various grade ranges that they support and services they provide.

 

Harcourt School Publishers

Now based in Orlando, FL, but founded in New York City in 1919, Harcourt School Publishers is the elementary school division of Harcourt. Serving grades Pre-K through six, they publish, develop, and market textbooks and instructional materials for use both at home and in the classroom.

Harcourt School Publishers also provides eLearning in a variety of subjects including reading, language arts, math, art, health and ESL. Their website is interactive and helpful for students, teachers, and parents.

Holt, Rinehart, and Winston

Holt, Rinehart, and Winston is based in Austin, TX. This Harcourt Classroom Education Company provides curriculum-based textbooks, eLearning sites, reference materials, CD-ROM’s and more for teachers and students in grades six through twelve. In operation since 1866, they are now considered a leader in secondary education publishing.

Heinemann-Raintree

Heinemann-Raintree is another division of Harcourt Publishers. There are 3 major divisions within the Heinemann-Raintree Global Library Group: Heinemann Library, Raintree, and Heinemann-Raintree Classroom. All three divisions are publishers of nonfiction texts for PreK through secondary (grade 8). The three groups cover a wide range of topics, including science, history, health, and more. They all correlate to state and national standards and provide useful nonfiction features such as, glossary, index, and more.

Classroom Connect

Classroom Connect has been a division of Harcourt since 1994. They provide professional development for kindergarten through twelfth grade. They also help teachers use technology, such as the Internet, to improve learning in the classroom.
